Obituary for Rade Humphries Jr.

Funeral Services for Mr. Rade Humphries, age 72 of Tatum, Texas will be Saturday February 16, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Friendship Baptist Church in Tatum, Texas with the Rev. Everreaster Adams, officiating. Internment will be at Trammel Cemetery.
Funeral services are under the direction of Southern Funeral Home-Henderson, Texas.

Today we come to celebrate our dearly beloved Rade Humphries, Jr. Brother Rade, as he was affectionately called was born in Tatum, Texas to Rade Sr. and Woodie Humphries on February 4, 1946. Rade attended Mayflower High School and was a proud graduate of the class of ’63.

Following his high school graduation Rade joined the US Army. After serving in the army he left Tatum and headed to Houston where he gained employment as an auto mechanic for Firestone before eventually opening his own automotive shop, C&H Automotive. In 1986, Rade returned to Tatum where he worked for Fairway Ford until retiring after 29 years. He was a “Master Mechanic” always ready to answer a mechanical question with a smile and a helping hand. One of his proudest acts of service was sponsoring individuals for 30 years in the Alcoholic Anonymous Community, where he was revered as a leader in the recovery movement. He was loving and welcoming and would help anyone who was in need and often did. He always made you feel as if helping others was a privilege and encouraged others to do the same.

An avid sports fan, Rade enjoyed traveling and spending quality time with family and friends. Ray’s love of life and his enduring faith will always be a source of inspiration to all who knew and loved him.

A God-fearing man, Rade was a devoted member of Friendship Baptist Church, in Tatum, TX.

On February 3, 2019 our beloved husband, father, uncle, grandfather and friend was called home. Ray was preceded in death by his parents, and siblings Rufus, Sr. and Mayme.

Left to carry on Rade’s legacy of love is his loving wife, Patricia; children: Calvin (Rhonda), Chiquita, Delores (Freddie), Napoleon (Adrienne), Natasha, Ebony, Nicholas (Alicia) & Jonathan; 2 nieces Yolanda (Michael) and Mary,3 nephews Michael, Rufus, Jr. and Rade, III, a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren and other relatives and friends.

He will surely be missed by all who knew and loved him.
